Are you a passionate Head of IT or indeed IT Manager looking to take that step up with a proven track record of leadership, strategy, and innovation? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment and want to make a real impact? Our client is an established insurance provider and are looking for an experienced Head of IT to lead their IT department.

As the Head of IT, you will manage a team of 10+ talented IT professionals, delivering exceptional service in line with business needs and industry best practices. Reporting to MD, you will play a key role in shaping and executing their IT strategy, ensuring their systems are efficient, secure, and future-ready. This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of IT operations, lead digital transformation initiatives, and contribute to the long-term success of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a skilled IT team, including team leads, to deliver excellent service.
  • Oversee the smooth integration and operation of key systems, including our Website and ERP
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to assess IT needs and implement effective solutions.
  • Develop and execute IT strategy aligned with the company’s mission and objectives.
  • Manage IT budgets, vendor relationships, and procurement processes.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, security, and governance standards.
  • Oversee IT security, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives and leverage technology to enhance efficiency.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and their potential benefits to the organisation.

Your Experience & Skills

  • 15+ years of IT experience, with at least 7 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage IT teams of 10+ staff, fostering development and collaboration.
  • Experience in small - medium sized businesses 
  • Experience in the insurance or financial services sector is highly advantageous.
  • Strong expertise in ERP systems, reporting tools, and decision-support technologies.
  • Demonstrated success in project management and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Solid understanding of INFOSEC 
  • Excellent vendor management, stakeholder communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
  • Awareness of data protection legislation and its impact on IT systems.
