AWS Senior Engineering Lead Senior Manager

A leading global consulting organisation is expanding its senior AWS Engineering leadership capability to support several major enterprise client programmes.

We're looking for an experienced AWS Engineering Leader who combines deep technical expertise with the ability to guide engineering teams, influence senior stakeholders and take accountability for complex cloud delivery.

This is an opportunity for someone who can operate at an architectural and strategic level without losing touch with the engineering that makes a solution work.

The opportunity

You'll take a senior technical leadership role across enterprise AWS engineering initiatives, helping shape solutions from initial architecture through to delivery.

Your responsibilities will include:

Leading complex AWS platform engineering and cloud modernisation programmes.
Setting technical direction across enterprise AWS architecture and multi-account environments.
Overseeing solutions involving AWS Control Tower, networking, security, IaC and cloud-native platforms.
Guiding engineering teams across Terraform, AWS CDK, Python, Kubernetes and serverless technologies.
Working with senior client stakeholders to shape technical solutions and delivery approaches.
Taking accountability for architecture decisions, engineering quality, risk and delivery outcomes.
Supporting technical solution development, mentoring and engineering capability growth.
Contributing to cloud innovation and opportunities involving generative AI and emerging AWS services.

What you'll bring

Approximately 10–15 years of relevant technical engineering experience, including substantial AWS architecture and delivery.
A strong software engineering, DevOps, platform engineering or cloud architecture foundation.
Experience leading senior engineers and multiple technical workstreams.
Deep understanding of AWS architecture, infrastructure automation, networking, security and cloud-native delivery.
Working knowledge of Terraform/CDK, Python, CI/CD, Kubernetes and modern AWS services.
A track record of complex enterprise transformation and successful technical delivery.
Strong consulting, commercial awareness and executive stakeholder engagement skills.
The ability to challenge technical decisions, guide architecture and remain credible with hands-on engineers.

Location: Sydney CBD and client sites, generally a minimum of three days onsite weekly and potentially five depending on client requirements.

Eligibility: Australian citizenship or permanent residency essential. Exceptional communication, consulting and stakeholder leadership skills required.
