- 2 days/week in Dublin 2 office
- €70k-€85k/year DOE
You will be part of a leading Irish organisation with a highly complex, enterprise-scale IT environment.
You will be responsible for supporting and maintaining a large Windows Server environment, working alongside senior SMEs and engineers across the wider infrastructure function.
This is a hands-on L3 position. You won't be expected to be the architect designing the entire environment, but you will need the technical ability to pick up complex issues, build and maintain servers, troubleshoot problems and contribute to the wider team from day one.
Only candidates based within a commutable distance from Dublin will be considered at this time. No visa sponsorship available.
Your Role
The environment is highly complex and enterprise-scale, so you'll be joining a team where there is plenty of technical depth around you. The ideal person will be comfortable working independently on day-to-day issues while knowing when to collaborate with the senior engineering team on more complex work.
- Working through incoming server support tickets and incidents, taking ownership through to resolution.
- Building, configuring and maintaining Windows Servers across the organisation's environment.
- Troubleshooting issues relating to Windows Server, updates, patching, services and performance.
- Supporting a large and complex enterprise Windows environment, with servers running across on-premises infrastructure and Microsoft Azure.
- Working with Active Directory and troubleshooting server and identity-related issues.
- Supporting Windows servers running across VMware/virtualised environments.
- Using PowerShell and automation where appropriate to improve processes and reduce repetitive manual work.
- Investigating technical issues and identifying the root cause rather than simply resolving the immediate ticket.
- Working closely with senior SMEs and other infrastructure teams when issues cross into different areas of the environment.
- Contributing to infrastructure improvements and technical projects.
- Keeping up to date with new technologies and best practices and contributing your technical knowledge to the wider team.
Your Experience
You'll have 5+ years' experience working with Windows Server in a systems administration at this level, infrastructure engineering or similar role.
I am looking for someone with strong hands-on technical experience who can hit the ground running, including:
- Strong experience administering and troubleshooting Windows Server, particularly Windows Server 2022 and previous versions.
- Good hands-on knowledge of Active Directory and the ability to troubleshoot server and identity-related issues.
- Experience building and configuring Windows Servers in an enterprise environment.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across patching, updates, services, performance and general server issues.
- Experience working with VMware/virtualised Windows environments.
- Exposure to Microsoft Azure IaaS / Azure-based Windows Servers.
- Experience using PowerShell, scripting or automation to improve administration and support processes.
- Experience working in an L3 support or escalation environment, dealing with technical issues rather than purely following documented procedures.
- The ability to work effectively within a wider engineering team and contribute to technical discussions.
- A practical, hands-on approach with the ability to hit the ground running in a complex enterprise environment.
